New Flavor Changing Interactions in Extended Gauge Models
A new class of flavor changing (FC) neutral interactions can arise in models based on extended gauge groups (rank >4) when new charged fermions are present together with new neutral gauge bosons. In some cases the FC couplings to a new Z1 are expected to be sizeable, implying that the Z1 mass must be large enough as to explain the observed suppression of FC transitions. Concentrating on E6 mode...
متن کاملCharmonium Spectroscopy Below Open Flavor Threshold
Charm quark has large mass (∼1.5 GeV) compared to the masses of u, d, s quarks. Velocity of the charm quarks in hadrons is not too relativistic ((v/c) ∼0.2). Strong coupling constant αs(mc) is small (∼0.3). Therefore charmonium spectroscopy is a good testing ground for the theories of strong interactions: quantum cromodynamics (QCD) in both perturbative and nonperturbative regimes, QCD inspired...
متن کاملThe Thomas-Fermi approximation for gauge theories
An effective field approximation, similar to the atomic Thomas-Fermi approach, is proposed for studying non-Abelian gauge theories which includes finitevolume effects. As applications of the formalism the equation of state for an SU(2) gauge theory with massless fermions is obtained. The extensions to realistic situations are briefly discussed. ? متن کاملBaryogenesis Below The Electroweak Scale
We propose a new alternative for baryogenesis which resolves a number of the problems associated with GUT and electroweak scenarios, and which may allow baryogenesis even in modest extensions of the standard model. If the universe never reheats above the electroweak scale following inflation, GUT baryon production does not occur and at the same time thermal sphalerons, gravitinos and monopoles ...
متن کاملStrings below the Planck Scale
We show that, for a class of critical strings in R × S 1-target space, the description of string theory given by its field content (analog model) breaks down when the radius of S 1 decreases below R 0 = √ α ′ , the self-dual point of the partition function Z(R). We find that Z(R) has a soft singularity at R 0 (a finite jump in the first derivative of Z).
